Category: Comparisons
Big Kick Popple and Pancake Popple are both 11-inch large plush, but they differ in price, exclusivity, and display presence. Here's how to choose the one that fits your shelf.
Quick answer
Choose Big Kick Popple if you want a 2026 Convention Exclusive with a sporty, limited-edition edge and don't mind paying a bit more. Choose Pancake Popple if you want the classic, sweet-natured original Popple at a lower price. Both are 11-inch large plush, so the real decision comes down to exclusivity versus value and which personality fits your shelf.
What both 11-inch Popples have in common
Both Big Kick Popple and Pancake Popple are part of the large 11-inch plush line, so they share the same core appeal: a marsupial teddy bear shape, a long pom-pom tail, and the signature Popple ability to pop inside out. That means the size difference isn't a factor here—your shelf space and hugging needs are already covered by either one. The real separation comes from their backstories, colors, and release status.
Exclusivity and character: Big Kick vs Pancake
Big Kick Popple is a 2026 Convention Exclusive, meaning it was released specifically for that event and is limited in quantity. Its athletic theme and bright colors make it a standout piece for collectors who value rarity. Pancake Popple, on the other hand, is described as the original Popple—sweet-natured and focused on bringing joy through happy surprises. She's not marked as limited or exclusive, so she's a more accessible, evergreen choice.
Price and value: what you pay for each
At catalog prices, Big Kick Popple is $25.20 (compared to a $35.00 comparison price), while Pancake Popple is $15.00 (compared to $25.00). That's a $10.20 difference. Big Kick's higher price reflects its convention-exclusive status and sporty design. Pancake offers a lower entry point into large Popple plush, making her a budget-friendly pick without sacrificing the 11-inch size or classic charm.
Display and shelf presence
Both plush stand 11 inches tall, so they occupy similar shelf real estate. Big Kick's athletic look and exclusive tag make it a conversation piece—ideal if you display your collection with an eye for limited editions. Pancake's softer, sweeter expression and classic colors blend easily into a nostalgic 80s-themed display. If you rotate your collection seasonally, Pancake's neutral palette may work in more setups, while Big Kick shines as a centerpiece.
Trade-offs to weigh
- Exclusivity vs availability: Big Kick is a limited convention exclusive, so it may be harder to find later. Pancake is a standard release, likely to stay in stock longer. If you want a guaranteed piece now and later, Pancake is safer; if you value rarity, act fast on Big Kick.
- Price vs budget: Big Kick costs $25.20; Pancake costs $15.00. The $10.20 difference buys you exclusivity and a sporty design. Set a budget first—both deliver the same 11-inch size and pop-out feature.
- Character theme vs neutral display: Big Kick's athletic, bright look stands out; Pancake's sweet, classic style fits seamlessly into nostalgic displays. Match the plush to your shelf's theme: bold centerpiece or cohesive retro vibe.
